Permanent Make Up

What is Permanent Make Up?

Permanent or Semi-permanent Make-Up is also known as micropigmentation. Some Technicians refer to this procedure as Permanent as it does not wash off and lasts for 1-3 years. Others call it Semi-Permanent as the pigment does fade after this time unlike a traditional tattoo. The pigment is implanted beneath the epidermis and into the top layer of the dermis, unlike a tattoo that is implanted deeper into the dermis. Permanent/Semi Permanent Make Up will gradually break down and fade with time, the longevity of the results depending on your age, skin type and lifestyle. Clients who participate in excessive exercise (producing sweat) and those who use sunbeds or have long exposure to the sun may find their pigment fading sooner.

Who would benefit from Permanent Make Up?

People who lack brow symmetry would benefit from this treatment to create a beautiful symmetrical set of brows. Others may have sparse brow hair, perhaps due to age or over plucking. Permanent Make Up creates the illusion of real hairstrokes and there are several different techniques to choose from – the finest hairstrokes to an ombre powdered effect. Those having had chemotherapy or alopecia would benefit from this procedure if there was little or no natural hair remaining.  If you find yourself having to pencil in your brows to create shape or fill in gaps then this would be an ideal treatment for you, saving you time every morning drawing your brows in.

The Consultation

Lauren will listen to your goals and expectations and talk you through the different options and the procedure itself. She will then go through your medical history with you to evaluate whether or not you are suitable to have the treatment. For instance, those who are breastfeeding, have a history of keloid scarring, are under the age of 18, or are taking blood-thinning mediation are not suitable candidates for micropigmentation.  You will need to fill out your medical history form along with consent forms to say you fully understand the procedure and its associated risks and complications. Additional forms may need to be signed, for example a model release form, consenting you are happy for your technician to use photographs of your treatment for social media and advertising purposes. A patch test must also be carried out before the treatment. Please refrain from taking any ibuprofen less than 24 hours before your treatment.

The Treatment

It is time for your new beautiful brows! Lauren will apply topical anaestheic cream to your brows to minimise any discomfort during the treatment. This will stay on for around 30 minutes. She will also draw on your brow template in a cosmetic pencil for you to see the shape of your desired brow; this will act as a guideline that will wipe away during the micropigmentation process. Both the machine method and the Nanoblading takes around one and a half to two hours from start to finish however you may be booked in for longer to allow for the numbing process. All treatments require a top up between 4-6 weeks after the first treatment.

Nanoblading

Nanoblading (the newest form of microblading – using the finest needles) is a form of tattoo artistry where pigment is implanted under your skin with a manual handheld tool instead of a machine. Lauren is able to create the finest and most realistic looking hairstokes with this technique. Rather than a block or shaded brow, Nanoblading creates the illusion of real hair, delicate and natural.

Digital Method

The digital method is another way to implant pigment using the state of the art digital options to create both a fine hairstoke effect or a bolder block or powdered look.  The newest Nano needle is revolutionary in its field and is so fine it creates the most delicate and realistic strokes. The machine method is also used for the on trend Ombre brow effect or if desired, a combination of both hairstrokes and ombre look.

Post Treatment

Lauren will discuss your post treatment advice with you. The amazing thing about Permanent Make Up is that there is virtually no downtime and you will be able to resume normal activities immediately. The pigment may appear a little darker to begin with but will fade after a few days. The healing process varies depending on the client’s skin and natural reaction to implantation of the pigment.

Please make sure you follow the post treatment advice given to you by Lauren carefully. This may include staying out of the sun, not going swimming for a week, avoiding traditional make-up on top of the treated area for three or four days and avoiding picking or scratching at the area.
